H & M Dilemma
As many people who still have a heart and mind, and really use them, we endure the rigors, discrepancies and consequences of choosing between what we feel over what we think, and vice versa, and sometimes get stock in between. At the end of the day, you got the outcome of which you decided to experience. So don't expect to harvest strawberries when you planted onions. Only sages, warriors, genuine artists and of course, super heroes, follow their hearts, the rest might be left behind trapped in their egos and delusional mind games.
However, you don’t have to disregard your feelings or overlook your thoughts, and run the risk to lose your heart or mind, or both; neither become into an egomaniac super hero like IronMan to make your dreams come true and be happy. There is a middle ground that we could strive to find. But first off, let’s analyze the intrinsic purpose of our H & M in order to try to bring peace, harmony and balance into our own lives and the planet.

"I put my mind and ego into my work, and lost my soul in the process" - Anonymous
There is an essential goal most people pursue in life, whether from social, cultural or media conditioning, which is happiness. Nonetheless, most people get irremediably caught into that mindset, not knowing that it’s actually the journey or life itself what usually brings that sense of bliss. Anyways, we draw to ourselves either joy or pain, depending on the choices and paths we take. The life’s classical dilemma lies in following your heart's blind and passionate ideals, or your mind’s logical and egoistic ideas. Your heart strives for chaos and your mind for order, and this pull and push drama brings up into our lives those interesting and sometimes mysterious everyday experiences that we inevitable encounter in our journey.
H & M Conflict
The mind is there to keep the heart from embracing its surrounding and overwhelm all over with that powerful nurturing and creative force that we call love. Nature for instance, would devour an entire city in matter of weeks if not trimmed down by our mind driven culture. We have to recognize that giving or receiving too much love could be quite stressing and/or demanding for many people. By the other hand, the heart keeps the mind from becoming over possessive, over ambitious and self-destructive, hence, counter-balancing the negativity of its control-freak driving energy in order to prevent it from consuming all over. When this happens, the ego and other thought forms, like “our own demons,” can gain too much power, take control and override our own will at the point of insanity. This is the present and predominant human condition that we endure in all its glory; and politics is a great example. But from any point of view we see it, the conflict between the heart and mind, or good and evil, always interacts in a constant and intensive playground.
H & M Evolution
Therefore, we have a built-in struggle of the opposite evolutionary forces, just like the universal forces of evolution (Yin & Yang). Of course, there are more complex issues and stuff to consider than just the frenetic battle of our hearts in minds in place here. For instance, if we go a little deep inside, into the micro-cosmos, we would find a holographic and allegoric battle represented by our ideas and feelings, thought and instincts, rationality and impulsiveness and so on. We also must consider the essential role of the ego, intellect, psyche, soul (emotional body), subconscious and consciousness, though the later one would be an integration of most the former ones. But most importantly, we must be aware as to what are their intrinsic functions in our conscious and subconscious human and spiritual experiences.
Essentially the purpose is the same, evolution. However, this dilemma apparently generates more unhappiness and conflicts in our lives than idealized happiness, though, happiness is not the only end, and neither all the endings are happy. The intrinsic goal is to give us the necessary lessons in order for us to learn and further develop our minds and hearts to another level of awareness in order to continue seeking new challenges to accelerate our spiritual evolution.
The Spiritual Biology of the Heart
One should wonder why seers, artists and spiritual masters and even great minds have historically given much more importance and priority to their hearts over their minds. And this reason, or rather, this passion, might stem from the heart’s biological and anatomical independence from the mind, and the brain in this case. Modern scientific researches (HEARTMATH Institute), have revealed that the heart generates the strongest pulse in the body, and it also has the important duty, which is to deliver oxygen and other vital elements into the body system. The interesting role of the heart here is that it maintains and even generates the most important thing, and that is life in the form of force and energy. As a matter of fact, many eastern spiritual doctrines consider the heart the responsible to harnesses and administer the “chi” or “eather” which is an abundant vital element in the air that we continuously breathe, which the heart processes in order to keep the integration of our body system powered and functional.
The Heart’s Romance and Sex Relationship
Furthermore, according to new medicine revelations; after the fecundation, after the sperm and egg unite, the first organ that starts emerging and developing from this magical union, it’s the heart. What’s more interesting, and even somewhat romantic, is that the second organ that emerges from the heart, it’s the tongue. And they maintain this interconnection since this inception. So it’s no coincidence that the first stages of romantic love and subsequent sexual intercourse, usually begins with the interaction of that which moves between our lips. However, the even more interesting aspect is that we use the tongue mostly to speak, communicate, pray, and even to sing those love songs that we like so much. Of course, the tongue has many other functions and can be used for many other pleasurable things, like tasting those delicious foods that ironically sometimes pump grease and cholesterol into the heart which end up affecting its vital functions. Well, we have full freewill in our bodies and can do with our organs, to some extent, what we believe will bring us some amount of joy to our heart and minds.

Left-Right Brain Paradigms
As you might know, the brain as opposed to the heart, it’s divided into two hemispheres, the left brain which is the rational, analytical, logical, systematical, linear, structural, etc. This is the side in which most people spend most of their lives. By the other hand, the right brain which is the dream-like, subjective, artistic, creative, intuitive, allegoric, etc. This particular side interacts and it's closely related to the heart. This is the side we mostly experience during our dream states, as well as the inspirational, recreational and spiritual times of our lives. Very few people really know how to experience or even access to this side of the brain. The question is “why?” Well, the answer to this is that the system in place is designed to keep your heart at the shadow and whim of the mind. This is done through social conditioning via the educational system which seeks to turn people into left brain oriented drones of the failing socio-economic system. And of course, the Media provides the rest mind programming and ego steroids.
So there is a natural tendency and deliberate attempt to unbalance and disregard one of the sides of our brains, which is reflected in the way we manage and experience our hearts and minds and our reality. The imbalances are essentially generated and exacerbated by over indulging in the instant satisfaction of our basic needs, instincts and many mainstream media implanted banal desires, dreams and ideals of happiness and success or failure. Hence, most people spend most of their energy and time either above in their heads, or down bellow in their crotch; in this manner, even more imbalances are generated within ourselves and the world. However, balance would come in the middle, which is in the heart. And this is achieved by anchoring your passions into the heart as you experience your whole range of capacities (thoughts, emotions and instincts).

Balancing Our H & M
In order to find a steady balance, first off we must understand what is the intrinsic purpose of the mind and the heart in order to come into terms of dealing with their needs and fulfill our dreams and goals. The mind, for instance, has taken over roles and performing tasks that is not supposed to do. And the heart, by the other hand, has been relegated to its minimal biological functions, and sometimes disregarded at all from our daily human activities and choices. Hence, it’s not given the importance and protagonist role that it deserves. One of them is to serve as a guide, like a compass, that prompt us instinctively what direction we must take or it’s best for our overall progress or evolution in our everyday experiences. All is for our highest good and the benefit of all parties. Although, many people have neglected, lost or unconsciously change that function from automatic to manual.
Whereas the mind is supposed to provide the intel, sort things up, gather and process information and resources in order to help us to get there. The problem begins when the mind takes control over the wheel of our ship, overriding the heart’s commands and hierarchy. Similar to the robots in the Disney-Pixar movie “WALL-E” where the wheel machine character (Auto) had been in control or automatic mode for centuries of drifting out in space, and refused to return the ship’s command to a remnant of an over indulging and neglecting humanity which seem to live content giving away their power and responsibilities to an artificially intelligent group of controlling machines ( does it sounds familiar to you?), until the captain out of courage, self-stem and determination decided to rise up and take full control of the ship back in order to make the trip back to Earth. However, the ambitious controlling robots didn’t give it up without a fight. And this is a great analogy that could be well applied into your H & M dilemma, and to let the mind know what’s its duty and who is really in charge of your ship. If we don’t do this, we run the risk of getting lost out in space and might never get back in touch with the Earth from where we came from.

Though, most importantly than balancing, is to really benefit from whatever experiences and lessons that the interaction of your H & M inevitable brings into your own and other people’s lives. Of course, being aware of what you are dealing with, the inner battle of the opposites within, it’s a good start and will tap you into another level of life’s experience, and if you read this far, you might have a wider clue about it. Though, nobody really knows our own minds and hearts better than ourselves, except our own demons and angels. And eventually the sum of all these and overall experiences will help you really find a balance within and help balance our world and the universe that we all are part of.
